Your controller data never leaves your browser
Everything the tester shows you is produced by the Gamepad API inside your own browser and
rendered straight back to the page. Button presses, stick coordinates, trigger values, drift
measurements, update-rate measurements and your controller's id string are
processed locally and are never transmitted, stored or logged by us. There is no server
component that could receive them. You can verify this in your browser's network panel:
nothing is sent while you use the tester.
No accounts, no forms, no uploads
PadTest has no sign-up, no login and no contact form. We do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal detail, and there is nothing on the site that would let you supply one by accident.
Local storage
The tester keeps its state in memory for the life of the page. Reloading resets it. Nothing about your controller is written to cookies or to browser storage by us.
Analytics
If privacy-focused traffic analytics are enabled on this site, they are provided by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and does not fingerprint or track individual visitors across sites. It records aggregate page views and referrers. It never receives anything about your controller.
Advertising and cookies
This site may display advertising served by Google. The following disclosures apply whenever it does:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use the DoubleClick cookie, or similar identifiers, to serve and measure advertising.
Advertising is disabled unless it has been explicitly configured for this domain. When it is not configured, no advertising script is loaded and no advertising cookie is set by this site.
Third-party links
Some pages link to other tools we run on separate domains, and to external references such as specification documents and browser source repositories. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Children
The site is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes to how data is handled would be described here rather than made quietly.
